None of these have anything to do with the interior layout of books though!?!? InDesign is the only place that gives you complete control over everything down to the kerning!

You want Affinity Publisher. It is a fantastic InDesign dupe. It’s also a one-time buy, and you download the software! For a single machine it’s 70 bucks US. For the ability to use it across devices and have all three programs in the suite, it’s 165.
I haven’t done any serious design in it, but all my crochet patterns are designed in it, and it works great.
Designer is an Illustrator dupe, and Photo dupes Photoshop. So, for 165 US, you get three programs that can dupe Adobe and no subscription fees.

As sketchy as the oceangate submarine was… you can bet your ass every single one of musky’s endeavors would look just as sketchy if it wasn’t for the fact that he’s forced to work with government regulators.
Hell, most of his projects are this sketchy if you look a bit closer. For example: the tesla tunnels.

Or the tesla model 3 where you can’t even open the back doors without power. So if you’re in an accident and lose power… good luck getting your kids out of the back, especially when the huge battery is turning into a huge, unextinguishable flamethrower.
Or the fucking starship launchpad that was utterly destroyed by the rocket and threw huge concrete chunks and other debris around for miles… which, incidentally, also destroyed the rocket.
That’s what all these self-proclaimed Silicon Valley tech bro geniuses are like.
They all think they know better than everyone else, and that rules or consequences don’t apply to them, and they see safety as little more than an afterthought.
It’s why Ai and social media algorithms are used sooooo ethically. It’s why amazon and facebook try to find out everything about you and happily sell that data with no disregard for what it could be used for.

Opting out looks fairly easy, as long as you have the info to email them. The email is arbitrationoptout@etsy.com.
The only one that’s hard to find is your username. Go to your profile, and then look at the URL (it will look like “http://www.etsy.com/people/username”) that’s where you’ll see your username instead of the word username. It’s not listed in your profile itself.
I cannot put into words how much I Fucking Loathe the fact that when you search something on youtube now it will randomly intersperse blocks of “people also watched” and “for you” into the results. That’s not what I searched for, youtube. I typed in a search query because I wanted to see search results, not random unrelated garbage you have placed in my way apparently to either inconvenience me or force me to scroll further for actual results. I despise your wretched little games and every time I see it I can only instantly close the tab as I am overcome with the urge to burn something down.

They also refuse to actually show the parameters you searched for. If you sort by “upload date,” the first few videos might be more recent ones by upload date, but anything past that you’ll find a video that was uploaded five years ago, then five months ago, then three years ago, etc, which—NO! That’s NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR!! PUT THEM IN ORDER!!!
Also sometimes the “people also watched” bullcrap will not only be entirely unrelated, it will also be videos with violent, sometimes outright triggering thumbnails. I’ve gotten some AWFUL unrelated video thumbnails just when searching for video game music videos.
got fully locked out of youtube for Using Adblocker crimes today (got a pop-up saying I’d be locked out after 3 videos and then the video player locked down) and after some experimentation discovered that switching to my old YouTube profile that wasn’t created via a Google account has bypassed it.
i DON’T know if this has anything to do w the origins of the account or if it’s just that they’re not rolling the new features out to all accounts at once and I’ve found a loophole so ig we’ll see how long this works for!!
this is what i’ve learned so far:
it initially presents as a dismissable popup saying that adblockers will shortly no longer be allowed & then after a while you get the ‘three more videos and the player will be blocked’ message followed by the player locking down.
YouTube is rolling out the new measures gradually so if you haven’t had any issues it’s likely to be bcos it hasn’t hit your account yet; comments along the lines of 'i used this browser + adblock combo’ are therefore not very helpful.
if using uBlock you seem to be able to bypass it by logging out but this does have the downside of having to use YouTube logged out. it apparently also works in private browsing mode.
I posted the above workaround in a reddit thread on the subject and someone else confirmed that making a new account worked for them.
I’m HOPING that someone will come up with a permanent workaround before it hits my old account but given how aggressive this seems to be I’m afraid this might be the thing that makes me finally bite the bullet and switch to spotify :(
switching over to my old account HAS broken my recommendations but less so than logging out altogether so could be worse!!
